Real-Time Location Systems help to automatically identify, detect and monitor different kinds of moving objects in well-defined zones. There are various real-time location technologies available on the market and the given task defines which technology should be used for the project. The selected RTLS technology is depending on three main parameters, as follow:

1) the features of the moving object which should be monitored frequently (attributes of the object, quantity, size, etc.),

2) the environmental conditions of the area covered by RTLS technology (area size, material on the area, inhouse vs outdoor, etc.)

3) project requirements (localization accuracy and frequency needed, energy supply, etc.)

These parameters together define the required technology for the given task, the related costs and the return on investment (ROI) of the project. Our aim is to achieve a ROI less than a year with the implemented technology.

Localizational barcodes have been available on the market for many years now and they can be also one of the RTLS technologies. Laser scanners which are used to localize automated guided vehicles (AGVs) can be also seen as an RTLS system. In areas like inhouse logistics and production, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology and UWB (Ultra-Wideband) systems are also gaining more popularity.

The different kinds of RTLS technologies can facilitate to realize an optimized and lean production or logistics process. Their application can support a digitalized, paperless “smart factory” economy, which also meets the requirement of Industry 4.0 (Industrie 4.0).

We have many years of experience in applying these technologies and we have established a very strong relationship with our supplier partners. You can find more information about our RTLS solutions under the following section and also here .
